This heirloom rice pops comes from farms in Nadia district, West Bengal. Black rice is know to contain the highest amount of antioxidants, protein and dietary fiber of all rices varieties couple with lower carbohydrate than ordinary rice with high iron-content. Not only is Black rice richest in powerful disease-fighting antioxidants, but it also contains dietary fiber, anti-inflammatory properties, and is known to to help stop the development of diabetes, cancer, heart disease and even weight gain.

The rice is dehusked and sand roasted to make the pop (puff) in traditional style.
