Purple tinged leaf variety of holy basil that is also called as shyama tulsi. The plant is native to India and the leaf and seeds are consumed. KNown best for its immunity building and digestive properties, the plant is well known medicinal plant. Grows best in full sun in moderately rich and well-drained soil kept well watered. Tougher to grow from seed due to their moody germination rates. Find a permanent spot and they self seed well after establishing.
