This aval (poha) is made from Anaikomban, a traditional red rice variety from Tamil Nadu.
Anaikombanis a heritage red rice whose name means “elephant tusk,” symbolising strength and natural resilience. It is naturally rich in fibre, iron, and antioxidants, making it far more nutritious than polished white rice.
The grains are lightly flattened, making them easy to cook while retaining all the goodness of whole red rice.
