Soapstone - Mortar and Pestle (Kalvam 10')

None like aroma of our freshly ground masalas wafting through the house from the kicthen. The mortar and pestle make for very handy tools. 

• They are useful for crushing, pounding & making ingredients into powder/ pastes.
• It can be used to quickly grind spices, masalas, ginger , garlic fresh when you need, to add to your daily cooking.
• The thick and tough base of the mortar helps in easy crushing and mixing of the ingredients. 
• It is said that freshly hand-pounded spices retain the natural flavors for a longer time.

The flavour and aroma of the freshly ground ingredients are sure to elevate your dishes.

We made our Masala chai using fresh stone ground spices 

These are carved out of soapstone, a naturally occurring soft stone. Soap stone has been used in India for thousands of years for carving and for making vessels. In many households, it is passed on from generation to generation.

It has has no artificial colours used.

They are natural and from the earth. Each piece is carefully hand chiseled by artisans from Tamil Nadu. We aim to keep these traditional kitchen ware in use and want their artisanship to be preserved as well. Before we brought it to you we visited the artists who make them.

VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW (USAGE)

• Best to Wash them only by hand.
• Rinse the mortar and pestle in water immediately after use.
• Rinse them in warm water with mild soap.
• Dont use a very abbrasive pad to scrub them. 
• Do not use very strong scented soaps.
• Make sure to dry them off well with a clean cloth.
• Please note, they will crack/break if you drop it down. So please handle with care.
