Few Quick Updates

  1. Mango Season is going quite well this year.
    • Broadly been happy with the quality and taste of our mangoes this season. Especially likes of Alphonso, Imampasand, Banganapalli, Kesar. I am sure there would have been one off cases where it was not so great too :-)
    • Imampasand this year the supply has been quite limited. Our star farmer shajahan from previous years could not supply this year due to weather related issues at the farm. Thankfully we could get some limited volumes from other farms. The feedback so for has been quite good. We have just received some stock and we have put them for natural ripening in Hay. It will get to semi ripe state in 2-3 days, post which we will put them instock. Keep a watch.
    • Kesar this year has been a big hit so far. Both what we received from Karnataka and present one from Maharashtra.
    • Surprisingly, have had good harvest this year of Award Winning Banganpalli from my own farm.
    • We keep getting other adhoc varieties like Mallika, Dasari, Malgova, Cherukurasalu etc on and off. Not very regular. So keep a watch if like them.
    • Slowly we will have mangoes from South declining and mangoes from North starting. We are expecting mangoes from Bihar like dudiya malda etc post June 12th.
  2. Lychee season is going well. Much better than last year when we could get it just couple of times. Taste has been quite good too. But please note lychees are quite a fragile fruit and typically, by the time we harvest it in Bihar and reach you at your homes in Bangalore, the colour would have changed to blackish, quite a bit on the outside. Pls avoid ordering these if you are looking for good looking ones. These are more like beautiful on the inside than outside :-)
  3. Cherries from Himachal has been coming regularly this year. If you remember last year we could not get it from himachal side, and had to get it directly from Kashmir side. Normally it starts from Himachal and then we get it from Kashmir side.
  4. Peaches - Elberta variety has started from Himachal side. The batch we recd today has much better colour and size than the previous batches.
  5. We have been getting HAAS Variety Avocados from one of our farmer, locally grown. They have been ripening pretty well compared to the local variety one. Taste also been quite good.
  6. Pomegranate - we had stopped selling this since for about 2 months now due to quality issues. Typically in summer season, the pearls inside turn very whitish with hardly any taste. Now that rains have started, we expect them to better and hope to start soon.
